Todd Smith, age 62, of Coleman, died Monday, June 7, 2021, at Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene.
The family will host a visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 10, 2021, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.
He was born Richard Todd Smith on November 9, 1958, in Abilene to Ardell Richard Smith and Lillian Alcorn Smith. Todd grew up in Coleman and moved to Abilene when he was 9 years old. He attended Abilene Cooper High School where he played football. Todd graduated from Cooper High School in 1977. Todd was a welder for over 30 years and worked at Lawrence Hall Chevrolet in the parts department. He currently worked for the Coleman County Water Department.
As a child, his parents owned Coleman T.V. and Appliance where they sold RCA televisions. Todd attended a market convention in Dallas, and it was there that Todd met the Dallas Cowboys football team. It was at this moment that Todd became an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Todd also had a love for the University of Texas Longhorn football team. If you knew Todd, he would always give you a “hook’em” sign. He also enjoyed fishing and golfing in his spare time. Todd loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Although he did not have any children of his own, he loved his nieces and nephews as if they were his own. He will be deeply missed.
Todd is preceded in death by his father, Ardell Smith; his mother, Lilian Alcorn Fritz; and his stepfather, Jesse W. Fritz.
He is survived by his sister, Tonya Goodwin of Abilene; his niece, Jasa Johnson and husband Jarvis of Abilene; his nephews, Michael Chad Vickers of Abilene, and Richard “R.D.” Vickers and wife Meagan of Bedford; multiple great nieces and nephews; and several great-great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Danny Lane, Chad Vickers, R.D. Vickers, L.G. Smith, Jarvis Johnson, and Travis Rhoades. Honorary pallbearer will be Donald J. Trump.
