Yebra was clocked at 25.39 in the finals after posting the third-best time of 26.03 in Friday’s preliminaries. Yebra held off fellow state qualifier and runner-up Makki Hart of Shallowater (25.67), who posted the fastest time in the preliminaries.
Also for Early, Vic Cooper came in third the boys triple jump (44-7) and could be in line to move on to Austin. The best third-place performer from each of the four regions in the state qualifies as the “wild card” or ninth member of the state field in each event.
Alex Jacobs came in fifth in the boys 100 meters (11.02) and seventh in the 200 meters (22.85), while Yebra finished sixth in the girls high jump (J5-0). The boys 4×100 relay team came in eighth (44.17), and Ciara Gallardo was 15th in girls shot put (30-10.25)
For Bangs, Hannah Parson came in 11th in the girls 800 meters (2:31.48).
