STEPHENVILLE – In their final action before hosting the District 6-4A track and field meet March 31-April at Gordon Wood Stadium, the Brownwood Lady Lions placed fourth while the Brownwood Lions came in sixth as a team at the Stephenville Optimist Relays this past Thursday.
The Lady Lions produced 77 points as a team which trailed Abilene Wylie (158), Stephenville (128) and Granbury (79.5). The Lions garnered 46 points which left them behind Midlothian Heritage (157), Stephenville (119), Abilene Wylie (113), Graham (92), and Granbury (65).
The Lady Lions brought home six medals – a gold, one silver and four bronze.
Emma Stegemoller won the 1600 meters (5:49.93), while Kynslee Walker finished as the runner-up in the 800 meters (2:28.41)
Placing third were Walker in the 400 meters (1:03.06), Becca Church in the 100-meter hurdles (16.95), Naysa Leach in the 3200 meters (13:06.48), and the 4×100 relay team of Talia Clifton, Kinley Reeves, Jadie Sudderth and Kassidy Wooten (52.12)
Coming in fourth were Church in the long jump (16-1), Leach in the 1600 meters (5:52.13), and Stegemoller in the 800 meters (2:29.93).
Finishing fifth were Jaslin Jones in the shot put (32.6), Jayme Cottle in the triple jump (34-1), the 4×200 relay team of Alli Touhakis, Jaylen Savage, Emily Carnes and Kylie Morris (1:54.47), and the 4×400 relay team of Sudderth, Cottle, Stegemoller and Walker (4:24.61).
Adding sixth-place efforts were Reeves in both the 100 meters (13.18) and 200 meters (28.12), Church in the triple jump (33-2.5), Stegemoller in the pole vault (8-6), and Ava Brownlee in the 300-meter hurdles (52.87).
The Lions collected two silver medals belonging to Hunter Day in the 800 meters (52.74) and Michael Felts in the 800 meters (2:07.57).
Felts also came in fourth in the Felts in the 1600 meters (4:55.1), while fifth-place efforts belonged to Jared Northcutt in the discus (125-6), Jake Jetton in the 200 meters (23.58), the 4×100 relay team of Toby Yeats, Nathan Wheelington, Azariah Dillard and Tyse Savage (45.01), the 4×200 relay team of Jason Jackson, Jetton, Wheelington and Taylor Bessent (1:33.98), and the 4×400 relay team of Day, Jetton, Jackson and Bessent (3:38.02).
