GLEN ROSE – The Brownwood Lions golf team finished as the second-best Class 4A school competing amongst Class 5A and 6A programs at the Dinosaur Invitational, a 36-hole, two-day tournament that concluded Saturday.
The Lions posted a 648 team score with a 330 Friday and a season-best 318 Saturday, leaving them two strokes ahead of Gatesville (650) and 37 in front of host Glen Rose (695), both District 6-4A rivals.
Brownwood placed sixth overall behind champion Burleson Centennial (611), runner-up Argyle (615), Mansfield Lake Ridge (632), Boswell (638) and Mansfield Legacy (646).
Sir Jones led the Lions charge with a 155 after rounds of 81 and 74, followed by John Monson with a 157 on rounds of 79 and 78, Hudson Reagan with a 168 after an opening 86 and closing 82, Slayde Espinoza also with a 168 with consecutive rounds of 84, and Ian Harris with a 176 following an 86 Friday and a 90 Saturday.
The next tournament on the schedule for the Lions is March 16 at Gatesville.
