
Competing mostly against much larger schools in the Class 4A-6A division of the Bluebonnet Relays, the Brownwood Lady Lions finished fifth as a team while the Lions placed sixth.
The Lady Lions produced 77 points which left them behind Killeen High (156), Harker Heights (119), Stephenville (109) and Brock (88).
The Lions generated 58 points which trailed Harker Heights (146), Killeen High (140), Stephenville (73), Brock (70), and Lampasas (59).
The Lady Lions collected seven medals – two gold, a pair of silver and three bronze.
Event winners included Emma Stegemoller in the 1600 meters (5:43.15) and Jaylen Savage in the high jump (5-2).
Runners-up were Stegemoller in the 800 meters (2:27.8) and Becca Church in 100-meter hurdles (16.41).
Finishing third were Kynslee Walker in the 800 meters (2:33.07), Stegemoller in the pole vault (8-6), and Church in the triple jump (34-5).
Placing fourth were Jaslin Jones in the shot put (29-4.5) and Walker in the 400 meters (1:05.74)

All three relays team came in fifth – the 4×100 relay of Talia Clifton, Jadie Sudderth, Kassidy Wooten, and Alexandria Touhakis (54.07); the 4×200 relay of Kinley Reeves, Emily Carnes, Jaylen Savage and Sudderth (1:55.34); and the 4×400 relay of Sudderth, Jayme Cottle, Stegemoller and Walker (4:31.86).
Sixth-place efforts belonged to Naysa Leach in the 1600 meters (6:30.15), Wooten in the 100 meters (13.7), and Cottle in the high jump (J4-8).
The Lions earned six medals – a silver and five bronze.
Michael Felts had the best performance for the Lions coming in second in the 1600 meters (5:05.99), and he added a third in the 800 meters (2:10.61).
Other third-place efforts were turned in by Jared Northcutt in the discus (124-3), Jake Jetton in the 200 meters (23.76), Hunter Day in the 400 meters (54.51), and Zach Bond in the 110-meter hurdles (15.98).
Placing fourth were Christian Kinzler in the high jump (J5-10) and the 4×200 relay team of Nathan Wheelington, Jason Jackson, Taylor Bessent and Jetton.
No Lions were fifth, but finishing sixth were Blaize Espinoza in the shot put (43-4), Toby Yeats in the 300-meter hurdles (46.17), the 4×100 relay team of Yeats, Bessent, Jackson and Wheelington, and the 4×400 relay team of Day, Jackson, Bessent and Jetton.
The Lions and Lady Lions will be back in action Thursday in Lampasas. Brownwood will host the District 6-4A track and field meet March 31-April 1.
