Trailing 2-0 at halftime, the final 40 minutes got away from the Brownwood Lions, who slipped to 0-2 in District 4-4A action and 2-11 on the season with an 8-1 loss to Mineral Wells Friday night at Gordon Wood Stadium.
Mineral Wells first scored with 15:42 left in the first half on a header off a corner kick. Then, at the 13:48 mark, the Lions were whistled for a hand ball in the box, which resulted in a penalty kick and 2-0 lead for the visiting Rams.
The Lions yielded their third goal with 29:53 left in the game, and their fourth with 21:59 to go.
Brownwood finally found the net with 18:55 remaining as Dryden Anderson scored on a rebound following a corner kick.
Mineral Wells then managed to tack on four more goals – with 12:05, 8:12, 4:32, and 3:11 left in the contest.
Brownwood will attempt to rebound at Stephenville at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.
