Brownwood News – Howard Payne University recently announced the academic honors list for the 2020 Fall Semester. A total of 227 students were placed on the President’s List, the Dean’s List, and the Honor Roll. Of those, 71 were student-athletes.
The President’s List requires a perfect 4.0 grade point average for the semester. The Dean’s List requires a GPA of 3.65 – 3.99, and the Honor Roll requires a GPA of 3.5 – 3.64. In addition, the student must be enrolled in at least 12 hours of course work, and may not have received a No Fail, No Grade, or Incomplete Grade for the semester.
Student-athletes from the Central Texas area who received academic honors were:
Derek Gifford, Brownwood, President’s List
Jake Angerstein, Early, President’s List
Xavier Haines, Early, President’s List
Tia Campos, Winters, Honor Roll
Tara Campos, Winters, Honor Roll
In addition, the HPU Athletic Department had over 150 student-athletes with a GPA of at least 3.0.
Athletic Director Hunter Sims commented: “We are very proud of the hard work of our student-athletes in the class room. We had 150 student-athletes earn a 3.0+ or higher in the fall semester. This is the 4th year in a row the athletic department has had over 150 students-athletes earn a 3.0 or higher GPA.”
