The 69th annual Brown County Youth Fair reached its conclusion Saturday, as the final day began with the coronation of Miss Brown County Youth Fair – Brownwood junior Rylah Morgan.
Morgan, the daughter of Derick and Jessica Morgan, competed along with Azteca Badillo of Brownwood, Rylie Guerrero and Jordyn Pitts of Bangs, and Emily Primrose of Zephyr.
“It’s so exciting,” said Morgan, who also vied for the title of Miss Brown County Youth Fair a year ago. “I’ve worked really hard for this for two years so it’s great that it’s finally paid off. I had a great group of girls right beside the whole time, so I had a lot of fun with it the whole year.”
Regarding any advice she would give girls interested in competing for Miss Brown County Youth Fair in the future, Morgan said. “I would definitely tell them to go for it, it is so much fun. I’ve experienced winning now and losing last year, and either way it’s been such an amazing experience and I’ve grown so much as a person. I’m so thankful for this experience.”
Aside from Saturday’s crowning achievement, Morgan stated her highlight of the week was, “definitely getting to work in the ring, it’s one of my favorite things. Watching. It’s just a really precious moment. It’s something I really had a lot of fun with.”
Morgan recapped what was a busy week for her, beginning with Monday’s fashion show.
“On Monday we started with the fashion show so all of the queen contestants were in that, as well as the Princess and Junior Miss and everyone who made their clothing projects,” Morgan said. “We followed that up Tuesday with our breeding show and our rabbit show, and I had breeding animals in the morning and rabbits in the afternoon. Wednesday we had our sheep and goats so I got show those and hand out some more ribbons that day, then Thursday we started wrapping things up with our hog show, and that was a lot of fun. We finally wrapped up everything Friday with our steers, heifers and horses, and then today we have the sale, and I’m excited to see how that goes.”
Looking ahead to her future Morgan said, “I’ll be finishing up my senior year of high school next year, then hopefully going to Texas A&M to pursue either becoming a pharmacist or a veterinarian.”
Earlier in the week, Taylor Simpson and Bentley Till were crowned Junior Miss and Princess, respectively.
