ALVARADO – The Brownwood Lions just missed out of their first win of the season Monday afternoon, dropping a 41-40 road decision to the Alvarado Indians.
“Our kids are getting there,” said Lions fifth-year head coach Nadir Dalleh. “Free throws and little mistakes cost us the other night against Dublin and it cost us today. Alvarado has a great team and being able to have a chance to beat team is big for us right now. Good news is we can fix missed free throws and turnovers and the kids understand this.”
The Lions trailed 12-8 after one quarter, 25-17 at halftime and 33-29 through three periods.
Brownwood received 18 points from Christian Kinzler, eight from Jakob Hataway, six from Micheal Felts, and four each from Bryson Monroe and Zach Porter.
Alvarado was by Kalon Johnson with 21 points
The Lions (0-3) will be back in action at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1 against Jim Ned in their first game at Warren Gym.
