The Texas Juvenile Justice Department provided the following updates today related to COVID-19:
• 1 staff member at the Ron Jackson State Juvenile Correctional Complex, in Brownwood, tested positive for COVID-19 Sunday night.
• 1 staff member at the Gainesville State School tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday night. That employee had last been on campus on November 4.
• TJJD has administered 2,315 COVID-19 tests to youth since the start of the pandemic. The last positive youth case was confirmed on November 4.
Since the start of the pandemic, 213 staff members at the agency’s secure facilities have tested positive for COVID-19:
Evins Regional Juvenile Center: 65
Gainesville State School: 14
Giddings State School: 45
McLennan County State Juvenile Correctional Facility: 41
Ron Jackson State Juvenile Correctional Complex: 48
Since the start of the pandemic, 242 youth at the agency’s secure facilities have tested positive for COVID-19:
Evins Regional Juvenile Center: 44
Gainesville State School: 13
Giddings State School: 89
McLennan County State Juvenile Correctional Facility: 69
Ron Jackson State Juvenile Correctional Complex: 27
