As of 5:30 a.m. Friday, Ronnie Jackson, age 46, was still listed as an inmate in the Brown County Jail. He was arrested by Early Police for attempted kidnapping.

In a press release issued by the Early police Thursday, On 09/17/2020 the Early Police Department received a call from an individual who stated he possibly knew the subject in the news picture regarding the attempted kidnapping. Early Police along with Texas Rangers began following up on the information provided to them by the caller. Officers were able to locate the suspect at a house on salt creek drive and began interviewing him briefly about the case. While obtaining identity on the man he provided a false date of birth. When officers were able to locate the correct information, they checked him in the computer and learned of an outstanding warrant from Odessa for Indecent Exposure issued in 2014. The suspect Ronnie Jackson was placed under arrest for fail to identify and the warrant from Odessa. Officers interviewed Jackson at the Jail regarding the incident with the child. Jackson denied trying to grab the girl from the store but admitted to being there for a short time. Officers then obtained a warrant from Judge Brian Thompson for Attempted Kidnapping and served the warrant on Jackson at the Brown County jail, Bond was set at $100,000 for the Attempted kidnapping charge. Jackson had been living in Brown County on FM 3100 for a short time but shows he moved around the state often. Det. Steven Means and Ranger Jason Shea are to be commended for their diligence in the investigation and to the public for their calls with information regarding suspects. When the public and Law Enforcement work together on these cases the chances for a good outcome greatly increase.
