The Brownwood Lions and Lady Lions both placed sixth in the varsity team standings at the Brownwood Invitational cross country meet Wednesday afternoon, which took place at Gordon Wood Stadium, the Massey Sports Complex and Festival Park.
Emma Stegemoller led the way for the Lady Lions with a ninth-place time of 14:06.85 trailed by CarolAnn Hetzel (26th, 14:46.66), Naysa Leach (35th, 15:13.32), Brileigh Price (40th, 15:53.67), Ava Brownlee (42nd, 16:02.52), Kinnison Harvey (43rd, 16:03.5), Alexandria Touhakis (53rd, 16:08.47), Taylor Pickney (53rd, 17:08.76), Molly Oliver (55th, 17:33.26), and Jillian Lambert (56th, 17:37.55).
For the Lions, Caleb Nelson was timed at 18:28.35, good for seventh place, followed by Cameron Phipps (19th, 19:47.25), Andrew Boren (34th, 20:53.46), Evan Fraze (39th, 21:08.19), Vincent Floyd (42nd, 22:01.56), Eli Menchaca (44th, 22:15.61), Hunter Glass (52nd, 23:02.25), Elijah King (54th, 23:06.29), James Nolen (56th, 24:06.48), and Carter Fleet (60th, 28:10.28).
The Lions and Lady Lions will be back in action at the Hico Invitational on Sept. 9.
