Kenneth Calvin Moore, age 96, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at the Brownwood Nursing & Rehabilitation in Brownwood, Texas.
Kenneth was born August 20, 1924 in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania to the late Roy H. and Vera Boller Moore.
After graduating from high school in 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served in the 2nd Ranger Battalion. After serving in the Army, he began working for the Arizona Public Service Co. in Phoenix, Arizona, retiring with 35 years of service. Kenneth married Frances Boase in 1969. After retiring, Ken and Frances moved back to Comanche. One of his most enjoyments later in life was delivering trucks and cars for Bayer Motor Co. in Comanche, Texas. He was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge #220 F.&A.M, Scottish Rite Valley of Phoenix and Shriner El Zaribah of Phoenix, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances, on February 17, 2001; parents, Roy H. and Vera Boller Moore; and step-mother, Georgia Moore.
Kenneth is survived by two sisters, Martha Vene Kunkle of Altoona, PA and Yvonne Lucas and husband Forrest of Johnstown, PA; two nephews, Andrew Lucas & family of Atlanta, GA and Brett Kunkle & family of Alaska; two nieces, Victoria Lucas Orledge and husband Dr. Jeffery of Madison, Mississippi and Kelly Kunkle and family of Altoona, PA; one son, Homer (Buzzy) Boase and wife JoNell of Conroe, TX; two granddaughters, Brandi & husband Jason Steptoe and Kim Steiger; two great grandsons, Chad Steiger and Jason Steptoe, all of Houston, TX; a special friend for 16 years, Verna Mae Bolton of Early TX; two close friends, Tommy and Cindy Gibson of Comanche, TX; and last, but not least, Kathy Boase, my favorite daughter-in-law and special friend, Chester Montgomery.
Family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 1, 2020, from 11:00 A.M. until 11:30 A.M.
Masonic graveside services will be at 12:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 1, 2020, at Gardens of Memory with Bill Slaymaker officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory in Comanche County. Condolences may be offered on line at www.comanchefh.com.
