A Celebration of Life for Darryl will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 14, 2020, at High Mesa Cowboy Church with Pastor Todd King officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to be made to High Mesa Cowboy Church (1100 High Mesa Dr. Brownwood, Texas 76801), you are welcome to specify which special project the memorial go towards.
Darryl Brent Walker, age 55, of Brownwood a Chaplain and member of High Mesa Cowboy Church went to his eternal home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 29, 2020, in the Abilene Regional Hospital.
Darryl was born on June 25, 1964, in Lubbock, Texas. Darryl attended Hart High School in Newhall, California where he played football and ran track. He later graduated from DeVry Technical School in California. He was noted for his knowledge of all football and track and was an authority on the facts and statistics. A notable job accomplished was his installation of the computers and screens at the Los Angeles Holocaust Museum. He formerly was with Youth With A Mission (YWAM). Darryl loved his church, the people and his pastor, but most of all he loved serving for the Lord.
Following a debilitating stroke in Austin, Texas, Darryl began a long road to recovery. Overcoming obstacles has been his theme in life and even though his mobility was severely restricted he felt the need to be of service to people. Darryl studied diligently and earned his Chaplain certification. This provided him the opportunity to perform his sister’s wedding. He loved everyone and his dogs, Buddy and Angel were great companions. Additionally, he enjoyed calling Bingo and helping the residents of Vicksburg fix their TV remotes and computers.
He is the grandson of Rev I L and Stella Walker of Bangs, Texas both of whom preceded him in death. Also, preceding him in death was his brother, Larry Walker.
Darryl is survived by his parents, Jack and Davie Walker; his sisters, Toni Walker-Taylor, Renee Walker-Darrah, Dawn Deakin and Karey Correa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He has been reunited with a great cloud of witnesses who went to their reward. Well done Darryl, you are missed!
