Jose R. Nunez, 93 (Coleman)

Jose Ramirez Nunez, age 93, of Coleman, died Sunday, August 2, 2020, at Holiday Hill Nursing Home.

The Rosary will be recited Wednesday, August 5, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 6, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 303 E. College Avenue, with Father Laurent Mvondo officiating.  Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Jose Ramirez Nunez was born February 19, 1927 in Coleman County, Texas, a son of Gilberto Nunez and Elvira Ramirez Nunez.  He grew up in Coleman where he attended school.  He served in the United States Navy in 1945-1946 and received an Honorable Discharge.  On June 23, 1945 he married Delfina (Josephine) Medrano in Coleman and she preceded him in death on June 21, 2012.  He was an electrician and worked many years for Lyle White Electric.  He then became self-employed with Joe Nunez Electric until his retirement.  He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society.

He is survived by three sons, Al Nunez and wife Mary, Ray Nunez and wife Linda, and Jimmy Nunez, all of Coleman; two daughters, Mary Evans of Decauter and Amelia Vera and husband George of De Leon; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two brothers, George Nunez and Julio Nunez both of Linden;  two sisters, Pauline Stepp of Texarkana and Caroline Valdez of Lewisville; 59 nephews and nieces.
