Reports released for the week of February 12 – 18, 2012 from the Brownwood Fire Department indicate responses to 27 medical emergencies, 1 motor vehicle accident, 4 fire calls, and 1 hazardous materials call.
Sunday, February 12
*3:47pm – BFD responded to a fire call in the 900 block of Melwood. Firefighters arrived on scene to find smoke coming from vents on the roof and from eves all around the structure. The fire was contained and extinguished.
Wednesday, February 15
*4:24pm – BFD was called to a hazardous material call in the 600 block of Penn Street. Fire crews responded regarding CO2 monitor sounding an alarm. The incident was investigated.
*6:34pm – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 1200 block of Hall Street. Firefighters responded to a call regarding an oven sparking at the residence. Fire crews arrived on scene to find a heating element in stove had burned out. Fire crews removed the oven at the request of the homeowner.
*7:45pm – BFD responded to a two-vehicle accident at Austin and Coggin Avenues. Firefighters checked for injuries and provided first aid.
Friday, February 17
*10:01pm – BFD was dispatched to a fire call at 2001 Austin Avenue, Coggin Park. The incident was determined to be an outside rubbish fire which was discovered to be extinguished upon fire crews’ arrival. Firefighters also found juveniles were sitting in a picnic area around a small burn area.
Saturday, February 18
*2:30pm – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 1200 block of Early Blvd. Firefighters arrived on scene to find light smoke in the office building. A thermal camera was used; however, nothing was found. Smoke was found to be coming from the HVAC breaker, which was pulled.
