The Bangs Lady Dragons face Hawley again at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at ACU

Bangs Lady Dragons 17, Hawley 7

ABILENE – The Bangs Lady Dragons opened their Class 2A Division I Region I bi-district playoff series against Hawley with a 17-7 victory Friday afternoon at Abilene Christian University.

Games 2 and 3, if needed, of the series will take place at 11:30 a.m. Saturday back at ACU.

Tied at 2 after one inning, the District 8-2A co-champion Lady Dragons (21-6) took a 4-2 lead after two frames and stretched the lead to 11-2 through three innings. Hawley closed the gap to 11-6 in the top of the fifth, but Bangs tacked on three more runs each in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings.

Bangs recorded 13 hits – four from Abby Wolf, who doubled and contributed a pair of RBIs; three by Cheyenne Rush, who homered, tripled and tallied five RBIs; three by Neeley Bradley, who tripled twice and knocked in four; one from Aubree Buford, who collected two RBIs; and one hit each from Julianna Ethridge, who drove in a run, and Adalynne Stephens.

In the circle, Wolf allowed seven earned runs on 11 hits with five strikeouts and three walks.

Henrietta 7, Early Lady Horns 2

WEATHERFORD – The Early Lady Horns’ softball season reached its conclusion with a 7-2 loss to Henrietta Friday in a one-game Class 3A Division II Region I bi-district playoff game at Weatherford College.

The Lady Horns (17-9) scored single runs in the top of the first and third innings to take a 2-0 advantage, but Henrietta scored three times in the bottom of the fourth to grab the lead and pulled away with four more runs in the fifth.

Early mustered five singles – a pair from Kyleigh Caperton and one apiece from Jordan Simmons, Jamie Vassar and Jamie Lyon. Simmons and Marissa Reedy tallied the RBIs for the Lady Horns.

In the circle, Sydney Greaves yielded seven runs – all unearned – on five hits with three strikeouts and three walks. The Lady Horn defense committed five errors behind her.
