The following fishing reports are provided by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for the week of April 23:

LAKE BROWNWOOD

GOOD. Water slightly stained; 67 degrees; 0.49 feet above pool. Black bass up to 8.36 pounds are excellent in 1-5 feet of water all around the lake in spawning pockets on Hag’s Tornados in green pumpkin, Tsunami Jigs and White Outlier Frogs. Last spawning wave has moved up on beds. Some bass are guarding fry and some are post-spawn. Crappie are good to 10 inches on jigs in 2-10 feet with a few spawning on the gravel flats. White bass are excellent to 2 pounds on crankbaits around the lake spawning in the rocks and out of the lights at night. Catfish to 5 pounds are slow on jug lines with cut bait, nightcrawlers and chicken livers.

LAKE CISCO

GOOD. Water slight stain; 60 degrees; 12.96 feet below pool. Bass are good with soft plastics and catfish are good with worms and minnows in 12 feet of water. Report by Lake Cisco Rentals.

LAKE COLEMAN

FAIR. Water stained; 70 degrees; 0.40 feet above pool. Water levels are up so expect a slow bite until the water settles. Bass are in all stages of the spawn hitting creature baits and soft plastics. Crappie can be caught with minnows or jigs.

LAKE O.H. IVIE

FAIR. Water slightly stained; 68 degrees; 23.12 feet below pool. Black bass are fair with catches up to 12 pounds possible. Some fish are still spawning in 2-16 feet of water on long flat points with brush and back of small pockets on the main lake. Soft imitation shad or crappie plastic baits on a Shaky Head or wobble head have been working on beds. Best bite is on Texas rigged Hags tornadoes in F5 and F 6.5 on flipped around thick cover on main lake, but casting and dragging over the top of the brush will land catches. Crappie are slow with few catches to report. White bass schooling activity mid lake around the Lee Day area, with catches up the river on rattle traps and topwater baits. Catfish are good on drop lines, or rod-and-reel in 6 feet or less of water upriver. A variety of cut bait and stink bait is working best. Report by Wendell Ramsey, Ramsey Fishing.

LAKE PROCTOR

FAIR. Water stained; 65 degrees; 0.18 feet below pool. Few reports after the recent weather. Crappie can be caught in shallow water on jigs and minnows. Reports of white bass caught trolling in shallow water.
