Both of Early’s state track and field entrants rank at the top of all regions

Early High School will be represented by a pair of student-athletes at the UIL Class 3A State Track Field Championships at the University of Texas’ Myers Stadium on Thursday, May 1, and both are ranked at the top of their respective event.

Longhorn Camden Myers’ Region I-3A effort of 6-8 in the high jump is tied for the best with fellow state qualifiers Bryson McFarden of Wall (6-8), Wade Stallones of Franklin (6-8), and Cayden Tatum of Tatum (6-8). The rest of the field includes Logan Trotte of Anahuac (6-7), Terrize Mills of Ponder (6-6), Tevan Evans of Vernon (6-6), Blas Villarreal of Banquete (6-4) and Adrian Chavez of Lyford (6-3).

Meanwhile, Lady Horn Jamie Vassar, with a 43-7.75 regional performance in the shot put, is tied with Childress’ Taylor Wiseman (43-7.75) at the top among state qualifiers. Comprising the rest of the field are Rayaa Brown of Hooks (39-9.25), Danna Jasky of Hallettsville (39-7), Kristen Betts of Woodville (39-2), Angelica Reyes of Friona (39-0.75), Gabby Coleman of New London West Rusk (38-7.75), Breeley Lively of Franklin (38-6.5), and Dakota San Miguel of Dilley (38-4).

Myers will compete at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 1, while Vassar takes the field at 12:30 p.m. the same day.
