BASEBALL ROUNDUP: May, Bangs notch victories, Early falls

May Tigers 14, Cross Plains 1

CROSS PLAINS – The District 7-1A champion May Tigers remained undefeated with a 14-1 victory over Cross Plains Tuesday.

The Tigers scored two runs in the first inning, three in the second, eight in the third and one in the fourth, while Cross Plains pushed its only run across the plate in the bottom of the fourth.

May (10-0-1) produced 13 hits – three by Lane Goodson, two each by Brody Stice, Kaden Watkins, Ben Harrell, and Mikey Scheriger, and one apiece by Hunter Seider and Kayden Psencik. Watkins recorded a team-best three RBIs trailed by Stice with a pair, and Seider, Goodson, Harrell, Psencik, and Kobey Morris with one each.

On the mound, Seider, Goodson, and Morris combined to allow one run on six hits with five strikeouts and one walk in five innings.

The Tigers will host Cross Plains in the regular season finale at 4 p.m. Friday.

Bangs Dragons 12, Cisco 2

BANGS – The Bangs Dragons picked up a Senior Day victory over District 7-2A rival Cisco, 12-2, Tuesday.

The Dragons (16-7, 5-4) jumped out in front 2-0 in the bottom of the first inning, added six more runs in the second and a pair of runs in the third to open a 10-0 advantage before Cisco scored its runs in the top of the fourth. Bangs tacked on two runs in the bottom of the fifth to enforce the 10-run mercy rule.

Bangs collected eight hits – two each by Skylar Minshew, Hunter Crowell, and Kaleb Biggs and one apiece by Jaxon Duncan and Everett Kirchner. Minshew, Crowell, and Biggs also finished with two RBIs each, as did Kason Klutts, while Duncan, Kirchner and Rex Guerrero drove in a run as well.

On the mound, Crowell pitched all five innings and yielded two runs on five hits with three strikeouts and three walks to notch the victory.

The Dragons close out the regular season at Cisco at 5 p.m. Friday.

Peaster 8, Early Longhorns 4

PEASTER – The Early Longhorns were doubled up in District 8-3A baseball action Tuesday night, 8-4, by the Peaster Greyhounds.

Early led 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning, but Peaster scored the next five runs. The Longhorns closed the gap to 5-4 in the top of the third, but the Greyhounds answered with three runs of their own in the bottom of the third to round out the scoring.

The Longhorns (6-16, 4-9) finished with three hits – one each by Brayden Moya, Jaxson Stockman and Jack Nowell. Moya, Ben Wilson and Brennan Rasor tallied RBIs for Early.

On the mound, Lawson Barron went the distance and gave up six earned runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and five walks. The Early defense committed two errors behind him.

Early concludes its season at home at 7 p.m. Friday when it welcomes Peaster.
