I’m ready to do a basketball prediction, maybe that’s not the way to approach it, but I’m going to give it anyway. The reason I didn’t before this is because about seventy-five per cent of my Final Four went down the drain so to speak. I do have one that’s still standing. I don’t remember what I picked early on, but Houston I picked to win the National Championship and I’m still alive there. I’ve still got Houston and they’ve still got two games to play.
The reason I don’t wait until after the Final Four is very simply it looks like I’m bragging that I picked the Final Four so this year I’m just laying it on the line. This is the Final Four. It will have happened while this program is still running so I’m hanging it out there on the line. I think Houston, I don’t know, I don’t think they’re perfect but on occasion they play really well and they may have enough defense to hang in there and maybe win it.
Now, the women’s side is fascinating because you’ve got, well It’s not done yet, the Final Four won’t be announced until tomorrow so you’ll know. If you’re watching the thing you know that some people have already qualified like, oh let’s pick the one that beat LSU – UCLA. They won and LSU lost so they’re out without going to the Final Four. I don’t know, it may be a war. It may be an absolute war because all four of those teams have a pretty good pedigree. I don’t know. People have been asking me for two days, “Who do you like on the women’s side because we know who you like on the men’s side.” Well, I’ll tell you. I think UCONN is going to win it. UCONN, are you kidding me? Yeah, I don’t think they’re dead in the water yet. They’re not as good as some of the UCONN teams but I think they may be good enough to win it.
So, I’m taking Houston and UCONN and you can go flip a pancake I don’t care, but those are my two picks. The NBA is too far away – too far away.
By the way, doing this for two of my grandsons, but their whole family filled out brackets. If truth be known, the serious one is probably their dad! Hayden has learned a lot of basketball and he’s picking some pretty good teams. He had the whole thing picked when they were not Final Four teams and back last month. He’s done a pretty good job of picking and that’s the reason I pick. I’m very proud of him.
I bet you that Houston and UCONN win all and if they don’t, I don’t know, I guess I’m going to be upset.
Until next time, so long everybody.
