Members of the Brownwood Lady Lions track and field team will be competing in five events in the High School Division I portion of the 97th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin Friday and Saturday.
All three Lady Lions relay teams – the 4×100, 4×200 and 4×400 – have qualified, along with Kate Tindol in the 100 meters and Hannah Deen in the high jump.
Friday, the 100 meters will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Myers Stadium – also site of the UIL state meet – while the 4×200 preliminaries are at 2 p.m., the 4×4 prelims are at 6:40 p.m. and the high jump competition will start at 6 p.m.
Saturday, the 4×100 prelims are set for 9 a.m. followed by the 4×200 finals at noon, the 4×100 finals at 1:30 p.m., and the 4×400 finals at 4:05 p.m.
The 4×100 relay is comprised of Icess Hall, Kaya Phillips, Jade Morin and Aniah Hines, with alternates Tindol and Grace Sparks. The 4×200 relay features Morin, Phillips, Hines and Tindol, with alternates Sparks and Braycee Lee. And the 4×400 relay includes Tindol, Morin, Rebekkah Delgado and Lee, with alternates Sparks and Jentry Coalson.
With a healthy contingent of Lady Lions in Austin over the weekend, the Brownwood varsity girls – who have won all five meets they’ve competed in thus far – will be short-handed at the Stephenville Optimist Relays Thursday. The full Lions roster will be on hand at Stephenville, however, as well as the JV Lady Lions and Lions teams.
The District 6-4A meet will take place Wednesday, April 2 and Thursday, April 3 in Graham.
