Spring programs continue at the Brownwood Art Center, 215 Fisk,  with a 3-part Mixed Media class, and a painting demonstration: What is Gouache?

The Mixed Media class, with instructor Christine Brisley, will be on Thursdays, April 3, 17, 24, from 1-3 pm.  Doors open at 12:45.

Students will learn three mixed media techniques:

Week 1:  pastel over watercolor

Week 2: acrylic and watercolor

Week 3:  watercolor and ink

Tuition for the series of 3 classes is $100 for Brownwood Art Association members, and $125 for non-members.  Class size will be limited to 10.  Registration and payment are at the Art Center during regular gallery hours, weekdays 2-6 pm.

What is Gouache? is a free demonstration by June Musick, Sat. April 26, from 1-3 pm.

Gouache was first used in France in the 18th century.  It is a water-based paint with higher pigment than watercolor.  It dries fast, can be re-wetted, and leaves a matte finish   June will offer her insights and experiences using this type of paint.

For more information about the BAA and Art Center events, follow the BAA on Facebook, visit the website, https://www.brownwoodart.net/, or call 325-641-2916.
