The Brownwood ISD Board of Trustees met Monday, March 17

During Monday night’s meeting of the Brownwood ISD Board of Trustees, Board President Michael Cloy announced applications will be accepted in April to fill the Place 6 vacancy created with the resignation of Amary Doremus in February.

Due to state law, since the next election for Place 6 is more than 180 days away, the board must appoint someone to fill the seat.

Applications will be available on the school’s website and at the Central Office in the month of April. The Board is hopeful the appointment of a Trustee for Place 6 takes place during the month of May.

Those interested in filling the role must live with the boundaries of Place 6, and a map of the district is included.

Also Monday, the Board approved the addition of a new Guardian to the roster, James LeMond. The Campus Guardians are employees authorized to possess firearms to address concerns about the effective and timely response to an emergency on District property, including the invasion of a school by an armed person who may pose a direct threat of physical harm to students or others.

Items passed on the Consent Agenda were the Final Reading of the TASB Initiated Policy Update 124, Approval of Instructional Materials Allotment Annual Certification, School Nutrition Contract Renewal, and the Minutes from the Feb. 10 Board Meeting.
