George M. Heard, age 78, went to be with the Lord on March 10, 2025, in Brownwood, Texas. George was born March 17, 1946, in Van Horn, Texas to Elsie Snyder and Jack Heard.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Blaylock Funeral Home in Brownwood. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home.
George met Linda Harris in Van Horn, Texas, where they married on June 3, 1966. George and Linda had four children, Tommy, Terri, Faye and Gigi. They moved to Monahans, Texas in the early 70s where they grounded their roots and raised their family. George was employed as a driller for Parker Drilling for 19 years before eventually moving to Early, Texas in 1989, where George laid his beloved Linda to rest in 1992.
George worked for Ross Company and The Heard Brother’s Auto shop with his brother Lonnie. He later went to go to work at the chevy house and Ryan Construction, where he later then retired. During that time, he found Irene Armendariz, and they got married on October 31, 1995. Where he was blessed with raising another daughter Kania. Irene passed October of 2014 after losing her battle to cancer.
He was always a hardworking man and made sure his family was always taken care of. George enjoyed horseback riding, going to rodeos and doing anything outdoors. George had a lot of love for bull riding, and that is where he was brought into the PSBR and retired from bull riding at the age of 60. He was best known as Paw or PawPa to any and all kids at the rodeo grounds. He was the proudest when his children and grandchildren decided to follow in his footsteps.
George is survived by his son, Tommy Heard and wife Darlene of Angleton; four daughters, Terri Heard of Winchell, Faye Heard of Brownwood, Gigi and husband Jerry Lewis of El Campo and Kania Clark of Mullin; his brother Eddie Mack of Brownwood. His 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elsie Snyder and Jack Heard; six brothers, JD, Bobby, Billy, Gerald, Lonnie, and Mickey; two sisters, Charlene and Lola Mae.
