BANGS – The Bangs Dragons baseball team improved to 9-3 on the season with its fifth straight victory, 24-1 over the Sonora Broncos here Monday afternoon.
Down 1-0 heading to the bottom of the first inning, the Dragons tallied 12 runs and added 11 more runs in the second inning, before tacking on a final run in the fourth inning.
The Dragons recorded 16 hits, drew 10 walks and were aided by six Sonora errors.
Offensive standouts included Skylar Minshew with four hits, including a home run, and five RBIs; Jaxon Duncan with three hits and two RBIs; Connor Bible and Everett Kirschner with two hits and a pair of RBIs apiece; Rex Guerrero with a couple of hits, including a double, and one RBI; Kaleb Biggs with one hit and two RBIs; Brennan Mendieta with a double and one RBI; and Hunter Crowell chipped in a hit.
On the mound, Minshew, Caiden Orosco and Lane Hill combined to allow just one unearned run on four hits with 10 strikeouts and no walks. The Bangs defense committed two errors.
The Dragons are next scheduled to visit Goldthwaite at noon Friday.
