
LLANO – The Early Lady Horns softball team was knocked from the ranks of the unbeaten Saturday with a 10-8 loss to Austin Liberal Arts and Science Academy in their final game at the Llano tournament.
Early trailed 3-1 after one inning and faced an 8-1 deficit in the bottom of the second, where it closed the gap to 8-7. LASA stretched the lead back to 10-7 in the top of the third inning, where the Lady Horns answered with their final run before the time limit expired.
The Lady Horns produced six hits – two by Marissa Reedy, who tripled and drove in two; one and two RBIs apiece from Aleeya McCombs and Jordan Simmons; and one apiece from Kyleigh Caperton and Jamie Lyon.
In the circle for Early, Caperton and Leslee Beard combined to yield nine earned runs on eight hits with six walks and no strikeouts.
The Lady Horns (9-1-1) begin District 8-3A softball action at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Millsap.
