Langston Andrew Barnes is the son of Kandice Harris (2024 Spotlight honoree) he is a Senior at Brownwood High School, graduating in May of 2025.
With a smile that would light up the sky and a personality that is infectious, Langston is well known around the Brownwood area.
During his High School years, Langston has been active in Choir, Theatre, and is a member of the Lionettes Drill Team. For the last 3 years he has participated in One Act Play and has been a part of the Varsity Choir each year of High School.
With a mother who has a gift and passion for the performing arts and community theatre, the apple didn’t fall far from the tree.
Langston has been active at the Lyric Theatre for almost a decade, all of his middle school and high school years, to date he has been cast in 22 productions. Notable performances include: Shrek in Shrek the Musical, Chad in High School Musical, Sonny in Grease, and Willard in Footloose.
In 2018, while attending the School of Science and Technology in Houston, Langston was asked to read a class paper he wrote on “Achieving a More Peaceful World”. In his paper Langston discussed achieving a peaceful world through three ideas ending world hunger, school shootings, and global warming.
In 2025, Langston advanced to Area State Choir competition and looks forward to Solo and Ensemble Choir competitions in the Spring. His Freshman and Junior years, he advanced to state in the Solo and Ensemble competition.
Langston has plans to attend college following graduation and wants to work towards a Bachelor’s in Financial Planning.
Outside of his contribution to the arts scene in Brownwood, Langston has supported local events like Christmas Under the Stars, Cinco de Mayo, and the San Saba Food Drive at the Grocery Store. He currently works at Chick-fil-A Brownwood.
