COMANCHE – The reigning Class 3A Division II state champion Early Lady Horns powerlifting team placed second at the Comanche Invitational Thursday.
Winning their weight classes were Matty Boswell in the 114s with 765 pounds lifted, Julienne Socong in the 123s with 860 pounds lifted, Leila Sherrill in the 132s with 575 pounds lifted, and Rayana Barzart in the 242s with 1,055 pounds lifted.
Placing third were Meghan McCorkle in the 105s with 540 pounds lifted and Heavan Tollett in the 123s with 600 pounds lifted.
Coming in fourth were Ireland Hollstein in the 148s with 565 pounds, Sofia Celedon in the 165s with 730 pounds, and Marlee Martinez in the 181s with 640 pounds.
Brynlee McDermed, in the 132s, added a fifth-place finish with 530 pounds lifted.
For the Longhorns, Keegan Sherrill came in second in the 275s with 1,540 pounds lifted, Maddox Hair was fourth in the 114s with 615 pounds, and Riley Bostic finished fifth in the 275s with 1,145 pounds.
Also competing for the Longhorns were Brayden Shafer in the 165s with 985 pounds, Rhett Smith in the 220s with 1,040 pounds, Orlando Mendoza in the 242s with 965 pounds, and Aiden Bostic in the 275s with 925 pounds lifted.
The Lady Horns and Longhorns will be back in action Feb. 13 at the Brady HOT Invitational.
