Welcome back to the weekly Pfluger Fly-By, a collection of events and happenings to keep you updated on everything I am doing week-by-week to represent you in Congress.
I was thrilled to be back in Texas-11 this week and see so many of you at our community-wide town hall meetings. It has been a busy start to the year, and I enjoyed hearing your feedback as we work to get our country back on track.
I have included some photos and highlights from this week for you. You can also find information on how my office can help you with any federal problems you may be having. As always, please do not hesitate to contact my office if we can ever be of assistance.
Best,
Plane Crash Near Washington, D.C.
I wanted to take a moment and address the devastating collision of a commercial airplane outbound from Witchita, Kansas, with a military helicopter near the Ronald Reagan National Airport in the Washington, D.C. area. This incident is both tragic and heartbreaking.
Please know that my office is actively monitoring the situation as we await more information from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), and other local law enforcement agencies and first responders. As your elected representative, I will work closely with my colleagues in Congress to find answers for this unspeakable tragedy.
I am grateful for the swift action taken by all agencies involved and the brave first responders who worked in frigid and icy conditions. Please join me as we pray for the family members and loved ones of those who tragically lost their lives.
Seeing You Across Texas-11
As Congress was in recess this week, I was busy at work back in Texas-11! I held my first community-wide town hall meetings of the year in Bronte, Ballinger, Coleman, Menard, and Eden. It was great seeing so many of you there!
Town halls are an excellent opportunity for me to hear your ideas, concerns, and feedback so that I can better represent you Washington. If you could not attend any of these, please be on the lookout for plenty more to come this year.
Securing U.S. Elections from Foreign Influence
This week, I reintroduced a package of bills prohibiting noncitizens from voting in D.C., preventing noncitizens from administering elections, and ensuring that only citizens can vote in our elections. Since being elected to Congress, I have led the way in cracking down on foreign influence in our elections. Free and fair elections are the cornerstone of our democracy, which is why protecting them is essential to our nation’s sovereignty and will ensure America has a flourishing democracy for decades to come.
The overwhelming foreign influence that took place in past elections clearly indicates that we must take protecting our elections from noncitizens more seriously. These bills are three common-sense steps we can take to ensure noncitizens have no part in our elections. We must safeguard the integrity of our electoral system, and these bills will work to do just that.
You can read more about the bills in Fox News here or through the link below.
Origins of COVID-19 Declassified
Since being elected to Congress, I pressed the Biden Administration for four years to declassify all intelligence related to COVID-19 and its origins. Unfortunately, the Biden Administration never declassified this information and hid the truth from the American people.
Thankfully, it is a new era of transparency in America with President Trump back in office. Following the Senate’s recent confirmation of John Ratcliffe as the new CIA Director, the CIA declassified the organization’s analysis on the origins of COVID-19, which favors the lab leak theory. I applaud Director Ratcliffe for his quick action on this.
