Knee pain? Considering a knee replacement? Learn more about knee replacement at an educational program presented by Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood (HMCB) surgical team and orthopedic surgeons Dr. James Deal, Dr. John Masterson, Dr. Stephen Roberts and Dr.Marlen Strefling.

The program will be Tuesday, January 21, 2025, from 6 – 7 p.m. in the Meeting Room, 2nd floor Outpatient Center at HMCB. Use west entrance off Streckert Drive.

The program will include a general overview of knee replacement, necessary decisions and measures before the surgery and what to expect post-surgery.

Determining the “right time” for a knee replacement can be challenging. The surgeons will discuss common signs and symptoms of knee pain from an injury, osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis. They will focus on several non-surgical options to consider prior to making the decision to have knee surgery.

Before knee replacement is pursued, an evaluation must be completed by an orthopedic surgeon to determine if non-invasive, less invasive or knee replacement is the individual’s best option.

Once the decision for surgery is made, the surgeon will recommend the patient attend a Joint Venture education class hosted at HMCB. The class provides an overview of the step-by-step process for the best outcome. Patients will learn what to expect before surgery, during the hospital stay and the recovery process. The goal is to provide a plan of care for successful surgery and recovery with less pain and improved mobility for a better quality of life.

To attend the knee replacement educational program, please RSVP by calling 325-649-3394 and providing your name and phone number.
