The following fishing reports are provided by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for the week of January 8:
LAKE BROWNWOOD
GOOD. Water stained; 56 degrees; 0.12 feet above pool. Lake Brownwood is at normal pool with muddy water clarity. Bass are in a normal winter pattern with a slow bite. Black bass to 4.22 pounds can be caught on minnow style baits and crankbaits in 2-6 feet. Crappie are slow on jigs and minnows in brush piles 9-15 feet. White bass are fair to 2 pounds scattered throughout the lake on crankbaits and jigs. Catfish are slow on cut bait and livers.
LAKE CISCO
GOOD. Water slight stain; 60 degrees; 12.43 feet below pool. The fish are biting good with mostly catches of bass. The lake has been really calm with the cooler weather. Report by Lake Cisco Rentals.
LAKE COLEMAN
SLOW. Water normal stain; 60 degrees; 0.30 feet below pool. Lots of freshwater in the lake slowing the bite until the water settles. Largemouth bass are dispersed throughout the lake relating primarily near stumps and boat houses. Crappie are slow with jigs and minnows.
LAKE O.H. IVIE
GOOD. Water slightly stained; 53 degrees; 23.04 feet below pool. Black bass are fair with reports of a fish over 13 pounds caught and several to 6-7 pound fish on a variety of baits from deep diving crankbaits, jerk baits and umbrella rigs. Bigger fish being caught deep. Main Lake produces best. Crappie fishing is good in the mouth of Elm Creek and also in Big Trees out in the Colorado River in front of Rangers Cove. 25-30 feet suspended. White bass are great on spoons and Alabama rigs in deep water. 30-35 ft main Lake points on the bottom. Report by Wendell Ramsey, Ramsey Fishing.
LAKE PROCTOR
FAIR. Water stained; 55 degrees; 0.07 feet above pool. Catfish are good on cut bait. Hybrid bass are good on swimbaits.
