MINERAL WELLS – The Brownwood Lady Lions soccer team kicked off their season Monday afternoon with a 5-0 road victory over the Mineral Wells Lady Rams.
Leading 1-0 at halftime, the Lady Lions erupted for four goals in the second half.
“I was really pleased with our second-half performance,” said Lady Lions head coach Alexis Walker.
Jacklyn Lewis scored the first two goals of the season for Brownwood with assists from Madison Weckwerth and Alma Bernal. Weckwerth then scored off an assist from Kynlie Lewis, while Kylea Karnes found the net with an assist from Bernal. Rylie Schaffer added the final goal unassisted.
The Lady Lions will be back in action at the Gatesville tournament Friday and Saturday. Brownwood (1-0) will battle Waco Meyer at 1:55 p.m. Friday, Robinson at 5:10 p.m. Friday, and Waco Connally at 3 p.m. Saturday.
