Rosemary was born on May 9, 1929, in Brownwood, TX, and passed away on December 10, 2024, in Cedar Hill, TX.

She was one of five children born to parents Martha Tyson and Robert Ardy “Rad” Hutson. Rosemary was the youngest child, joining brothers Lewis, Burnis, Carroll, and sister Modelle. She grew up in Texas and Oklahoma, living most of her life in Brownwood.

Rosemary attended Brownwood High School before working at the soda fountain at Peerless Drug Store where she met the love of her life, Trent Thompson. They were married in 1946 and welcomed their daughters Barbara Lynn and Mary Helen, and sons Lindsey Trent and Steven Trent.

Rosemary was a talented and creative person who had a variety of career experiences including secretary, bookkeeper, and even a stint as a radio DJ. She loved cooking, sewing, painting, and arts and crafts, running her own craft shop for many years. Her Coney Island hot dogs were a family favorite.

A lover of the outdoors, Rosemary enjoyed water and snow skiing, was an avid fisherman, and skilled hunter as well. Rosemary and Trent had many outdoor adventures including fishing and hunting in and around Lake Brownwood, and annual trips to New Mexico, Colorado, East Texas and the Gulf. Rosemary and Trent loved sharing experiences with family and friends, hosting fish fries, and ensuring everyone had a great meal and a great time.

Rosemary is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, son Lindsey Trent, and daughter Mary Helen. She is survived by daughter Barbara Thompson (James Beauchamp), and son Steven Trent (Catherine); grandchildren Sherry Benjamin (Ronnie), Chris Eaton, Trisha Slaughter (Chip Deka), Benjamin Eaton (Alisha), Nora Thompson, and Aidan Thompson; great-grandchildren Shane Benjamin (Kristin), Annabelle Eaton, Parker Eaton, Levi Benjamin, Corbin Benjamin, and Novah Deka Slaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 29, 3:00-5:00pm at Heartland Funeral Home, 303 Early Blvd, Early, TX. Funeral service will be held Monday, December 30, at 2:00pm in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at Greenleaf Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests to honor Rosemary’s memory with donations to Susan G. Komen Foundation (www.komen.org) or the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).

Online condolences, memories and tributes can be made to the family at www.heartlandfuneralhome.net.
