Bruce Wayne Rivers, 63, of Rising Star, Texas passed away Sunday, December 15, 2024. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, December 28, 2024 in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel.
Bruce was born October 21, 1961 in Potter County, Texas to Jackie Wayne and Evelyn Laverne (Owen) Rivers. He grew up in Lubbock, Texas and attended Monterey High school. Bruce managed 2 pecan orchards and growing things was going to be a staple in his life. Bruce moved to Rising Star where he purchased the local golf course and growing good greens and lifelong friendships became his legacy. He loved the game of golf, not just the game of golf but everything about the game. He owned and operated the golf course for 21 years sewing and knitting himself into the community. He spent his days hanging out in the club house with the members and loved making them laugh, they became part of his family. Bruce took pride in raising his kids and enjoyed making his grandkids laugh. He loved making everyone laugh, he loved his family. Bruce was always up for an adventure whether it be mountain biking, tubing shooting guns at “the Bus” or whatever, it was always fun. Bruce loved his Bible study group, he was a patriot, he was a proud American and an even more proud Texan. Always up for a game of “Wahoo” with family and was as close as siblings with all his cousins.
Bruce is survived by his daughter, Amanda Rivers of Early; his son, Bryan Rivers of Rising Star; grandchild, Kera Arberry and Abigail Manous of Early; nephew, Travis Garten of Hawaii; Uncle Leroy Rivers and Family of Lubbock; and many cousins, friends and golfing buddies.
