DE LEON – The May Tigers defeated the Bangs Dragons, 66-39, Saturday afternoon to capture the championship in the De Leon basketball tournament.
May (6-1) and Bangs were tied at 13 after one period, then the Tigers opened a 29-21 halftime lead that grew to 49-37 after three quarters.
Kobey Morris paced May with 32 points followed by Ben Harrell with 17, Mikey Scheriger with seven, Kaden Watkins and Jackson Lusk with four apiece, and JD White with two points.
For Bangs, Braxton Wommack poured in 18 points trailed by Jackson Edmisten and Mason Minshew with six apiece, and Brennan Mendieta, Eliseo Rivas and Noe Martinez with three points each.
The Tigers are back in action Tuesday at Newcastle while the Dragons host De Leon.

May Lady Tigers 46, Lingleville 13
HICO – The May Lady Tigers concluded play in the Hico tournament with their second consecutive victory, 46-13 over Lingleville.
May led 14-0 after one quarter, 25-4 at halftime, and 39-7 heading into the fourth period.
The Lady Tigers received 14 points from Jordyn Gerhardt, 10 from Chloe Lord, eight from Mia Musick, six from Bekah Roberts, five from Kenlyn King, two from Aubree Gerhardt, and one point from McKenna Landes.
The Lady Tigers (4-8) are back in action at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Santa Anna.

Lady Mustangs finish second at Rochelle tournament
ROCHELLE – The Brookesmith Lady Mustangs finished as the runners-up in the Rochelle tournament Saturday, and Ameriah Balleza was named to the all-tournament team.
The Lady Mustangs return to the court at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Mullin.

Lady Dragons place fourth in silver bracket at Llano tournament
LLANO –– The Bangs Lady Dragons placed fourth in the silver bracket of the Llano tournament with a 1-3 record. Bangs knocked off Marble Falls Thursday and Joey Newton was named to the all-tournament team.
The Lady Dragons open District 5-2A action Friday at home against Ballinger.

Comanche JV 58, Blanket Lady Tigers 30
LOMETA – The Blanket Lady Tigers reached Saturday’s championship game of the Lometa tournament, but came up short against the Comanche JV, 58-30.
The Lady Tigers visit Sidney at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the district opener.
