LORENA – The Brownwood Lady Lions crossed paths with a former consistent postseason rival at the Lorena basketball tournament Friday, dropping a 55-48 decision to Kennedale.
The Lady Lions (8-5) trailed Kennedale (6-10) by an 11-10 count after the first period, 25-17 at halftime, and 40-31 heading to the fourth quarter.
Icess Hall scored a team-high 18 points for the Lady Lions trailed by 13 from Hannah Deen, six each from Jade Morin and Nylah Hall, three from Lanie Johnson, and two points from Kate Tindol.
The Lady Lions converted 31 percent (16 of 51) of their shots, including 4 of 31 three-pointers, and drained 63 percent (12 of 19) of their free throws. Brownwood was plagued by 22 turnovers, but recorded 13 steals and 25 rebounds, with 14 coming on the offensive end.
Brownwood is back in tournament action at 4:30 p.m. today against Alvarado.
