LORENA – The Brownwood Lady Lions snapped out of their shooting slump and halted a three-game skid in the process with a 66-46 victory over Class 5A Belton Thursday to kick off Lorena tournament action.
The Lady Lions (8-4) converted 35 percent of their field goals (21 of 60) en route to establishing a new season-high in points, including 24 percent (7 of 29) of their three-pointers, and also sank 73 percent (17 of 23) of their free throws.
Brownwood also committed just 15 turnovers while recording 14 steals and pulled down 29 rebounds, with 18 on the offensive end.
Hannah Deen scored a season-high 24 points trailed by Trinity Roberts with 13, Icess Hall with seven, Jade Morin and Nylah Hall with six points apiece, Lanie Johnson and Cassidy Brown with four points each, and Miranda Northcutt with two points.
The Lady Lions led Belton (4-9) by 16-9 count after one quarter, 31-20 at halftime, and 44-38 heading to the fourth period.
Brownwood is back in tournament action at noon Friday against Kennedale.
