Howard Payne University surpassed this year’s GivingTuesday goals of raising $800,000 from 350 supporters. The total given on Tuesday, December 3, was $882,908 from 394 supporters. Donations during the one-day giving event were provided by alumni, friends, personnel and community partners.
Gifts will support a wide range of student-experience initiatives, including the Howard Payne Fund, scholarships, academic programming, campus improvements, athletics and more. By meeting the goal of supporters, the University unlocked a $50,000 challenge grant from an anonymous supporter.
Dr. Dale Meinecke, vice president for advancement, expressed his appreciation for the level of support.
“The HPU family made this GivingTuesday truly special by giving above and beyond what we prayed for,” said Dr. Meinecke. “Not only is it truly amazing to raise more than $882,900 in one day, but we increased the number of donors by 11% from last year. We praise God for His continued provision for our university.”
Dr. Cory Hines, HPU president, said GivingTuesday gifts will provide for long-lasting impact.
“It is humbling and inspiring to see the support that was given this year through GivingTuesday,” Dr. Hines said. “I want to express my sincere gratitude to all who partnered with us to make an impact on our campus and in the lives of our students. HPU supporters help continue the university’s mission of making the world a better place tomorrow through the leaders we are developing on our campus today.”
