HAMILTON – The Brownwood Lady Lions began play in the Hamilton basketball tournament Thursday morning with a 47-38 victory over the host Hamilton Lady Bulldogs.
The Lady Lions (5-1) shot 32 percent (16 of 50) from the field, 29 percent (8 of 27) from three-point range, and 43 percent (7 of 16) at the free throw line. Brownwood overcame 18 turnovers by pulling down 30 rebounds, with 10 coming on the offensive end, and creating nine steals.
Brownwood led Hamilton 13-10 after one quarter, 23-19 at halftime, and 41-27 heading into the fourth period.
The Lady Lions received 13 points from Hannah Deen, 10 each from Jade Morin and Trinity Roberts, six apiece from Kate Tindol and Icess Hall, and two points from Cassidy Brown.
Brownwood is back in action at 1:50 p.m. this afternoon against Tolar, and wraps up pool play at 9:50 a.m. Friday against Llano.
