GORMAN – The Brownwood Lady Lions suffered their first loss of the season Friday night as they were dealt a 36-32 road defeat by Class 1A No. 9 Gorman.
The Lady Lions continued a trend of scoring fewer points than the previous game, which has happened in all three contests for Brownwood (3-1) since the season-opening 58-point output.
In its fourth consecutive road game to start the season, Brownwood trailed Gorman (5-0) by an 11-10 count after one quarter, then drew even at 15 at halftime, but faced a 27-25 deficit after three periods.
Adyson Neel led the Lady Lions with nine points followed by eight from Nylah Hall with eight, seven from Icess Hall, four from Miranda Northcutt, and two points apiece from Hannah Deen and Trinity Roberts.
The next action for the Lady Lions takes place at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday as they welcome Early for the home opener at Warren Gym.
