Zephyr 58, Gustine 6
ZEPHYR – The No. 10 Zephyr Bulldogs completed a flawless run through the 13-A Division II schedule and captured their third consecutive outright district championship with a 58-6 home victory over the Gustine Tigers Friday night.
Zephyr (9-1, 4-0) finished with 207 yards of total offense – 147 rushing and 60 passing – and limited Gustine (7-2, 2-2) to just 60 yards, including -34 on the ground, with a pair of takeaways.
Reese Hamm rushed for 62 yards and a pair of touchdowns and returned the opening kick 46 yards for six points, while Wyatt Stevens passed for 60 yards and two touchdowns – 29 yards to Trapper Schoenhals and 24 yards to CJ Byers, who also rushed for 18 yards and another score. Chayden Woodcock chipped in 44 yards on the ground and Corben Gosnell hauled in a 7-yard reception.
Stevens also returned a punt 43 yards for six points, and took an interception back 35 yards to the end zone, as he led the team with 10 tackles as well.
The Bulldogs open the playoffs at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Goldthwaite as they face District 14 runner-up Evant (4-6) in Class A Division II Region IV bi-district action.

Blanket 43, Sidney 8
BLANKET – The Blanket Tigers clinched the second playoff berth from District 13-A Division II with a 43-8 home victory over the Sidney Eagles in Friday night’s regular season finale.
Blanket (9-1, 3-1) generated 316 total yards – 160 passing and 156 rushing – against the Sidney (3-6, 0-4) defense.
Brian Shannon caught nine passes for 129 yards and three touchdowns as Dallas Shumaker completed 8 of 14 passes for 101 yards and two scores and Cameron Aultman was 2 of 4 for 59 yards with a touchdown.
Aultman also rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown Kannon Kensing chipped in 74 yards and a score on the ground. Mason Beck also hauled in a 29-yard reception.
Defensively for the Tigers, Kensing returned a fumble 38 yards for a touchdown and added 12 tackles, while Abel McLaughlin also notched 12 tackles with two sacks, and Aultman tallied 12 tackles with a fumble recovery. Shannon tacked on five tackles and a fumble recovery as well.
Next week, Blanket opens postseason play against District 14 champion and third-ranked Oglesby (8-2) in Class A Division II Region IV bi-district action at 7 p.m. Friday in Hico.

Jonesboro 60, May 30
MAY – In a battle of Class A Division I Top 10 programs, the No. 4 May Tigers were handed their first loss of the season by the No. 6 Jonesboro Eagles, 60-30, in a game that decided the District 14-A Division I championship.
With the loss, May (9-1, 2-1) – which has now dropped its last four meetings against Jonesboro (9-1, 3-0) – will face No. 1 Gordon (10-0), the District 13 champion, in the bi-district round of the Class A Division I Region IV playoffs at 7 p.m. Friday in Santo.

Richland Springs 64, Lohn 0
RICHLAND SPRINGS – The Class A Division II No. 2 Richland Springs Coyotes rolled to an outright District 15 championship with a 64-0 drubbing of the Lohn Eagles Friday night.
Richland Springs (10-0, 4-0) needed just 124 yards to amass eight touchdowns against Lohn (5-5, 1-3).
The Coyotes scored offensively on a 29-yard pass from Cohen Ethridge to EJ Aviles, a 32-yard carry by Gage Behrens, a 24-yard sprint by Jim Eckermann, and an 8-yard run by Hudson Tharp.
Billy Perry added touchdowns on a blocked punt return and a fumble return, and also rushed for 31 yards on his only carry. Hutton Rogers and Behrens both returned interceptions for touchdowns as well.
Richland Springs will have a bye in the opening round of the playoffs as District 16 second-place Calvert (3-5) and third-place Buckholts (3-7) have forfeited due to a lack of players.

Goldthwaite 46, Mart 0
GOLDTHWAITE – In perhaps the biggest upset in all of Texas high school football Friday night, the playoff-bound Goldthwaite Eagles pummeled the No. 1 Mart Panthers, 46-0, in the District 10-2A Division II finale for both squads.
Goldthwaite (6-4, 5-2) led reigning state finalist Mart (8-2, 6-1) by a 20-0 count after one quarter and 40-0 at halftime. The Eagles finished with 450 yards – 367 rushing and 83 passing – while allowing just 120 yards – 66 on the ground and 54 through the air – with a pair of takeaways.
Luke Sanderson rushed for 174 yards and three touchdowns, caught two passes for 65 yards, and also threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to Aidyn Lee. Landry Sanderson tacked on 148 yards on the ground and also scored once. Lee finished with 74 yards through the air with a touchdown and 19 yards and a score on the ground, while Gary Wiedebusch contributed 29 yards rushing and caught a 9-yard pass as well.
Despite the win, Goldthwaite still enters the playoffs as the No. 4 seed from District 10 and will battle District 9 champion Maud (6-4) at 7 p.m. Friday in Corsicana in Class 2A Division II Region III bi-district competition.

Comanche 42, Clyde 14
CLYDE – The Comanche Indians earned a share of the District 3-3A Division I championship thanks to their 42-14 road victory over Clyde, coupled with Jim Ned’s 45-28 win at Sweetwater Friday night.
Despite the piece of the district title, Comanche (7-3, 4-1) will enter the playoffs as the third seed from District 3 due to the points tiebreaker and will battle District 4 runner-up Peaster (8-2) at 7 p.m. Thursday in Graham in Class 3A Division I Region I bi-district action.
In the win over playoff-bound Clyde (4-6, 2-3), the Indians produced 378 yards of total offense – 229 rushing and 149 passing.
Quarterback Cayden Davis completed 6 of 9 passes for 229 yards and five touchdowns, and also rushed for a team-high 78 yards with another trip to the end zone. Alex Terrell contributed three catches – all touchdowns – covering 143 yards, while Kazdon Thedford hauled in a 37-yard scoring reception and CT Buford grabbed a 35-yard touchdown catch. Ladanian Smith tacked on 47 yards rushing and also caught a 14-yard pass for the Indians.
Defensively, Badger Sanchez led Comanche with 12 tackles followed by eight from Manuel Ortiz, seven each from Smith and JJ Davis, and six from Ethan Dease.

Cross Plains 28, Winters 20
CROSS PLAINS – The Cross Plains Buffaloes snapped a four-game skid as they ended their season with a 28-20 road victory over the Winters Blizzards Friday night.
Tied at 6 at halftime, Cross Plains (4-6, 1-4) carried a 12-6 advantage over Winters (2-8, 0-5) into the fourth period, and owned a 16-14 scoring edge over the final 12 minutes.
The Buffaloes finished with 347 yards of total offense – 205 rushing and 129 passing – with no turnovers, while yielding 251 yards – 182 on the ground and 69 through the air – with no takeaways.
Quarterback Kade Purvis connected on 5 of 8 passes for 129 yards with a 60-yard scoring strike to Gray Albrecht, and Purvis also rushed for 71 yards and two more touchdowns. Tyler Mackey tacked on 123 yards and a touchdown on the ground and caught four passes for 69 yards.
Defensively, Cross Plains was led by Mackey with 18 tackles, Jessey Bradford with 17, Colt Sanderson with 16, Cullin Ellis with 13, Bryson Barron with 12. Purvis with nine and Albrecht and Anson Long with eight tackles apiece.

Mason 35, San Saba 0
SAN SABA – The San Saba Armadillos missed out on a chance to earn a share of the District 14-2A Division I championship with a 35-0 home loss to the No. 7 Mason Punchers Friday night, and actually finished in a three-way tie for second place in the league after Thorndale knocked off Holland, 18-13, Friday.
Despite the three-way tie, San Saba (6-4, 3-2) will still represent District 14 as the second seed in the Class 2A Division I Region IV bracket of the playoffs as its clashes with District 13 third seed Crawford (2-8) at 7 p.m. Friday in Copperas Cove in bi-district action.
Playing without starting quarterback Luke Tharp, San Saba was limited to 128 total yards – 99 rushing and 29 passing.
Jason Everett rushed for 36 yards, Alex Estrada added 29 and Levi Glover chipped in 24. Glover also passed for 19 yards and caught a 2-yard pass, while Winton Lackey rushed for 10 yards and passed for 10 yards. Cash Bryant hauled in a 19-yard catch, and Everett added a 4-yard catch.
Defensively for the Armadillos, Glover and Juan Patino each recorded a team-high six tackles followed by five from Danny English. Patino also recovered a fumble.
