TUSCOLA – The Bangs Lady Dragons pushed the District 6-2A champion Hawley Lady Bearcats to five sets, but came up short in their bid to capture a Region I-2A volleyball bi-district championship, 25-17, 25-15, 21-25, 23-25, 15-8, Tuesday night.
Kasey Solis and Ashlynn Sliger led the Bangs attack with 12 kills apiece followed by Neeley Bradley with nine, Ava Boren and Dyan McCurdy with three each, Cameryn Harmon with two and Julianna Ethridge with one.
Boren dished out 19 assists while Bradley contributed 16.
Boren also served three aces trailed by Solis with a pair and one from Ethridge.
Defensively, Ethridge registered 18 digs followed by Bradley and Justice Baker with 12 apiece, Cloey Petty with seven, Boren with five, Solis with three, Harmon and McCurdy with two apiece, and Sliger and Kylee Byler with one each.
At the net, Sliger recorded four blocks, Solis followed with three and Bradley and Boren chipped in one apiece.
The Lady Dragons finished the season with a 16-19 overall record, while Hawley improved to 30-10.
