ROUND ROCK – The Goldthwaite Lady Eagles just missed out on claiming a team medal at the UIL Class 2A Cross Country State Championships at Old Settlers Park Friday morning, but still achieved a fourth-place state finish.
Goldthwaite generated 130 points which trailed state champion Hamilton (37), runner-up Farwell (77), and bronze medalist Gruver (96).
The Lady Eagles’ effort was led by Payten McGee (10th, 12:07.8) along with Madison Wood (39th, 13:00.2), Emily Bartek (45th, 13:04.2), Addisyn Howard (56th, 13:14.7), Rylie Hillis (91st, 13:37.1), Jacey Jernigan (123rd, 14:123.5), and Kenley Howard (124th, 14:24.4).
Other local athletes competing Friday morning included Coleman’s Victoria Guerrero, who came in 15th overall in a time of 12:25, while San Saba’s Kelyn Yanez finished 48th with a time of 13:06.1.
