Erma Ellison

Erma “Charlie” Ellison, age 76, of Brownwood, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024. Visitation will be held from 5 – 7PM on Friday, November 1, at Heartland Funeral Home. Funeral Services for Erma will be held at 2PM on Saturday, November 2, in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Holt Cemetery in Richland Springs.

Erma was born on November 22, 1947 in Brady to Martha and Orman J. Myers. After graduating from Midland High School, she later attended Indiana University where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and became a qualified mental health professional. She worked at Central Texas MHMR, and later worked for Texas Youth Commission until she retired. Erma married the love of her life, Jerry Ellison, on November 5, 1971 in Lawton, Oklahoma. They spent over 52 wonderful years together; 20 of those years, she was an amazing Army wife. She enjoyed gardening, painting, reading, traveling, puzzles, and singing; Erma was an amazing singer! Erma also loved volunteering for children’s activities, and Special Olympics.

Erma is survived by her beloved husband, Jerry Ellison; her two sons, Jeremy Ellison of Columbus, Ohio, and Christopher Ellison and wife Angela of Belton; 3 grandchildren, Hayleigh and Sawyer Ellison of Columbus, and Coleman Ellison of Belton; brothers, Doug and Johnny; and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Erma was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Mike, and sister, Kathy.
