Celeste Lee Samis left this world as the sun was setting on the evening of October 22, 2024, in Dallas, Texas. Celeste was born in Talihina, Oklahoma, in February 2006, to Eric Samis and Amber Lawrence. Celeste was the proud younger sister to Haillie Samis, Raven Mata, and Jasmine Samis, as well as a member of the Choctaw Nation.
Due to being born with a rare genetic disorder, Celeste lived a life that many people could not fathom. Despite her debilitating disease, Celeste lived a full life in her mere 18 years, showing everyone who met her, just exactly what she was made of. While nonverbal, Celeste always found a way to let you know what she was thinking. She was an expressive individual who was somewhat of a jokester in her childhood.
As Celeste grew older, and her needs became greater, Celest continued to show great endurance, perseverance, and fight. She handled each setback she faced with grace, determination, and unwavering strength. These characteristics that she quietly exposed through those very trying times, spread like wildfire to all of those who encountered her, leaving physicians, nurses, case workers, caregivers, and family members better humans for simply having known her.
Celeste loved a comfortable night gown, fuzzy socks, heating blankets, spa days with her favorite caregivers, true crime television shows, music loud enough that it had strong vibrations, and the color purple.
Celeste is preceded in death by her parents, Eric Samis and Amber Lawrence, and her sister Haillie Samis.
Celeste is survived by her brother Raven Mata, sister Jasmine Samis, caregivers Raymond and Christie Sanchez, as well as numerous extended family members.
A Visitation for Celeste will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, November 1 and Funeral Service will be held directly after at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel in Brownwood, Texas. Final internment will follow after at Greenleaf Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, friends and family request you consider donating to the Child Welfare Board of Brown County or Toys for Tots for the upcoming holiday season.
