Blanket 54, Rising Star 0
BLANKET – The Blanket Tigers kept their flawless record intact and remained atop the District 13-A Division II standings with a 54-0 shutout over the Rising Star Wildcats Friday night.
Blanket (7-0, 2-0) compiled 339 total yards – 211 rushing and 128 passing – against Rising Star (3-5, 0-2) as the Tigers have now outscored their seven foes 421-59.
Kannon Kensing rushed for 144 yards and three touchdowns and caught a 16-yard pass; Mason Beck caught four passes for 81 yards and scored three times; Cameron Aultman completed 4 of 5 passes for 93 yards with two touchdowns and rushed for 66 yards and another score; Dallas Shumaker connected on 3 of 6 tosses for 35 yards with two touchdowns; and Brian Shannon hauled in a 21-yard scoring reception.
Defensively for the Tigers, Shannon, Kensing and Thane Yeats each recovered a fumble. Kade Miller, Beck and Aultman led the team with six tackles apiece, followed by Shannon with five and Kensing and Yeats with two each.
Next week, Blanket travels to Zephyr (6-1, 1-0), which had a bye Friday, in a game that is shaping up to determine the District 13-A Division II championship and the two playoff seeds.

Brookesmith 1, Panther Creek 0 (forfeit)
The Brookesmith Mustangs secured their first District 15-A Division II victory via forfeit Friday night at the hands of the Panther Creek Panthers, who have forfeited the rest of their season.
The Mustangs (4-3, 1-1) next week host Rochelle (3-3, 1-0), needing a victory on the field to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Richland Springs 46, Lubbock West Texas 0
ABILENE – The Class A Division II No. 2 Richland Springs Coyotes found a game late in the week and traveled to Abilene Christian High School Saturday morning where they collected a 46-0 victory over the Lubbock West Texas Tornadoes.
The Coyotes led 32-0 after one quarter thanks to touchdown runs of 44 and 3 yards by Cohen Ethridge and 15 and 8 yards by Billy Perry, as Ethan Deeds converted two-point kicks after each.
In the second quarter, Perry tossed a 27-yard touchdown pass to Hutton Rogers, who also intercepted a pass in the first quarter, and Gage Behrens capped the scoring on a 5-yard plunge with 5:23 remaining.
Richland Springs (7-0, 1-0) was slated to host Panther Creek, which has forfeited its season, in District 15-A Division II action next week.

San Saba 36, Thorndale 28
THORNDALE – The San Saba Armadillos secured their second consecutive District 14-A Division I victory Friday night, holding off the Thorndale Bulldogs, 36-28.
San Saba (5-2, 2-0) generated 403 yards of total offense against Thorndale (4-3, 0-2), with 370 of those yards coming on the ground.
Quarterback Luke Tharp rushed for 241 yards and a pair of touchdowns and also completed 3 of 7 passes for 33 yards. Alex Estrada tacked on 54 rushing yards and scored once, and Jason Everett rushed for 43 yards and reached the end zone.
Defensively, Tharp and Levi Glover both intercepted passes for San Saba, while Everett led the way with 12 tackles. Glover chipped in 11 followed by Danny English with 10 and Cash Bryant with eight. English, Sterling Proffit and Adrian Martinez each recorded one sack for San Saba.
Next week, the Armadillos welcome Harper (3-4, 0-2), which is coming off a 56-0 loss to Mason.

Sweetwater 27, Comanche 13
COMANCHE – The Comanche Indians were unable to follow up last week’s overtime home victory over Jim Ned with another, as the Sweetwater Mustangs chalked up a 27-13 road win in District 3-3A Division I action Friday night.
Comanche (4-3, 1-1) managed 345 total yards – 226 rushing and 119 passing – with three turnovers against Sweetwater (4-3, 2-0), which also coughed up the ball three times.
Indian quarterback Cayden Davis rushed for 160 yards and a touchdown and completed 6 of 19 passes for 119 yards with one scoring toss and two picks. CT Buford caught three passes for 59 yards with a touchdown.
Alex Terrell chipped in 26 yards on the ground and caught a 31-yard pass and Ladanian Smith finished with 40 rushing yards with a 4-yard catch. Manuel Ortiz added a 22-yard reception.
Defensively for Comanche, Terrell and Smith each recorded nine tackles followed by Badger Sanchez with seven, and JJ Davis and Zaden Tello with six each and Buford and Trey Bauman with five apiece. Ortiz recovered a fumble and intercepted a pass and JJ Davis also picked off a pass.
Next week, Comanche heads to winless Breckenridge (0-7, 0-2), which was blanked by Jim Ned, 48-0, Friday night.

Bremond 75, Goldthwaite 47
BREMOND – The Goldthwaite Eagles experienced their first District 10-2A Division II defeat in a wild 75-47 shootout with the Bremond Tigers Friday night.
Leading 13-8 after one quarter, Goldthwaite (4-3, 3-1) gave up 36 points in the second quarter and trailed Bremond (5-2, 3-1) by a 44-19 count at halftime. The Eagles faced a 68-35 deficit through three periods.
Goldthwaite finished with 520 yards – 386 rushing and 134 passing – with three turnovers, while Bremond produced 618 yards – 364 on the ground and 254 through the air – without a turnover.
Quarterback Aidyn Lee rushed for 179 yards and three touchdowns and completed 5 of 13 passes for 118 yards and two more scores for the Eagles. Luke Sanderson caught four passes for 116 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also rushing for 72 yards with a trip to the end zone. Landry Sanderson chipped in 133 rushing yards and a touchdown.
Next week, Goldthwaite welcomes Wortham (4-3, 2-2), which mauled Meridian, 70-14, Friday night.

De Leon 55, Coleman 12
COLEMAN – After coming up a touchdown short in their district opener a week ago, the Coleman Bluecats struggled throughout in Friday’s 55-12 loss to De Leon in District 5-2A Division I action.
Coleman (0-7, 0-2), which is still search of its first win of 2024, was limited to 100 total yards – 95 rushing and 5 passing – with three turnovers by De Leon (4-3, 2-0). Defensively, the Bluecats surrendered 447 yards – 274 on the ground and 173 through the air – and did not force a takeaway.
Coleman scored on a 68-yard kick return by Brody Bland and a 12-yard run by Anthony Espitia.
Blaine Bouldin rushed for a team-high 39 yards followed by 30 yards from Paul Salas and 25 from Espitia, who also completed 2 of 5 passes for 5 yards with an interception. Salas caught a 4-yard pass and Micah Lackey tallied a 1-yard reception.
Cutter Cody and Salas recorded 13 tackles apiece for the Bluecats followed by 12 from Bouldin and eight each from Brooks Clippinger and Lane Bowers.
Next week, Coleman ventures to Hico (5-2, 1-1), which secured a 42-14 victory at Bangs Friday night.

Miles 48, Cross Plains 0
CROSS PLAINS – The Cross Plains Buffaloes were handed a second consecutive District 7-2A Division II defeat, 48-0 at the hands of the Miles Bulldogs, Friday night.
Cross Plains (3-4, 0-2) mustered only 108 total yards – 90 rushing and 18 passing – with a pair of turnovers against the Miles (5-2, 1-1) defense. The Buffaloes, meanwhile, yielded 382 yards – 197 through the air and 185 on the ground – with one takeaway.
Tyler Mackey rushed for 44 yards and Kevin Hopkins added 27 on the ground for Cross Plains. Kade Purvis completed 2 of 11 passes for 18 yards – both to Landry Savell – with a pair of interceptions.
Mackey led the Buffaloes with nine tackles followed by Savell, Anson Long, and Bryson Barren with eight each and Gray Albrecht with seven. Savell intercepted a pass as well.
Next week, Cross Plains visits state-ranked Albany (5-2, 2-0), which mauled Winters, 68-0, Friday night.
