Blanket 59, Gustine 13
GUSTINE – In a battle of unbeatens to begin the District 13-A Division II football slate, the Blanket Tigers cruised past the Gustine Tigers for a 59-13 victory Friday night.
Blanket (6-0, 1-0), which has now outscored its foes 367-59, produced 433 yards of total offense – 239 passing and 194 rushing – against the Gustine (5-1, 0-1) defense.
Dallas Shumaker finished with 120 passing yards and two touchdowns while Cameron Aultman added 119 yards through the air and three scoring tosses.
Mason Beck led the way with four grabs for 116 yards and two trips to the end zone, Brian Shannon caught two touchdown passes totaling 36 yards, Kade Russell finished with two receptions for 52 yards and scored once, and Kannon Kensing hauled in a 37-yard touchdown catch.
On the ground, Kensing contributed 137 yards and two more touchdowns and Aultman finished with 57 rushing yards and scored once.
Defensively, Shumaker, Beck, Kensing and Ethan Tomme each recovered a fumble for Blanket.
Next week, Blanket hosts Rising Star (3-4, 0-1), coming off a 45-0 loss to Zephyr (6-1, 1-0).

Zephyr 45, Rising Star 0
RISING STAR – Two teams hoping to secure a third consecutive district championship squared off in the 13-A Division II opener Friday night, where the Zephyr Bulldogs handily defeated the Rising Star Wildcats, 45-0.
Zephyr (6-1, 1-0) yielded just 38 total yards – 24 passing and 14 rushing – to Rising Star (3-4, 0-1) and forced seven turnovers.
The Bulldog offense, meanwhile, manufactured 307 yards with 267 coming on the ground.
Reese Hamm rushed for 180 yards and a pair of touchdowns for Zephyr trailed by Wyatt Stevens with 41 yards and a score, CJ Byers with 22 yards and two trips to the end zone and Johnny Paul Evans-Rollins finished with 8 yards on the ground and scored once.
Through the air, Stevens threw for 40 yards as Wyatt Frank caught a 35-yard pass, and Hamm and Byers added receptions of 3 and 2 yards, respectively.
Stevens, Hamm and Evans-Rollins each intercepted two passes and Corben Gosnell also picked off a pass. Stevens and Byers led the way with six tackles each followed by Trapper Schoenhals with five.
Next week, Zephyr has its district bye while Rising Star travels to Blanket (6-0, 1-0), which is coming off a 59-13 win over Gustine (5-1, 0-1).

MORAN – The Class A Division I No. 4 May Tigers remained undefeated with a 48-0 victory at Moran Friday.

Next week, May (7-0) has its bye before opening District 14-A Division I action Oct. 25 at home against Santa Anna (3-4), which lost to Woodson (4-3) by a 62-14 count Friday, and also has a bye next week.

Richland Springs 59, Brookesmith 12
BROOKESMITH – The Class A Division II No. 2 Richland Springs Coyotes dished out a 59-12 defeat to the Brookesmith Mustangs Friday in the District 15-A Division II opener for both teams.
Richland Springs (6-0, 1-0) generated 237 total yards, with 205 coming on the ground, against the Brookesmith (3-3, 0-1) defense.
Cohen Ethridge rushed for 116 yards and three touchdowns, while Billy Perry added 79 yards and scored three times as well.
Perry also threw a 32-yard pass to Hutton Rogers and Gage Behrens chipped in 10 yards on the ground.
Defensively, Ethridge logged 15 tackles followed EJ Aviles with 14, Rush Norris with 12, and Perry with 11 tackles and four sacks.
Adyn Ribble rushed for 163 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 13 carries for the Mustangs.
Next week, Brookesmith is scheduled to face Panther Creek (0-5, 0-1), which forfeited to Lohn (5-2, 2-0) Friday, while Richland Springs has its district bye.

Comanche 13, Jim Ned 10 (OT)
COMANCHE – Alex Terrell converted a 31-yard field goal in overtime, as the Comanche Indians sent a message to Class 3A Division I with a 13-10 victory over perennial power Jim Ned in the District 3 opener Friday night.
Terrell also forced overtime by booting a 30-yard field goal for Comanche (4-2, 1-0) on the final snap of regulation.
Comanche grabbed a 7-0 lead in the first quarter over Jim Ned (3-3, 0-1) on a 27-yard touchdown pass from Caleb Davis to CT Buford.
Jim Ned scored its first points in the third period on a 31-yard Erik Welch field goal, then grabbed a 10-7 lead with 1:21 left in the fourth quarter on a 3-yard Aiden Ellis touchdown run.
Comanche finished with 254 total yards – 137 on the ground and 117 through the air, while allowing 293 yards – 188 rushing and 105 passing – with three takeaways.
Davis completed 11 of 17 attempts for all the passing yards and added a team-high 95 yards on the ground for Comanche. Buford finished with four grabs for 62 yards and a touchdown, while Ladanian Smith added 37 rushing yards and a 26-yard reception. Other Comanche players catching passes were Terrell (1-14), Zayden Tello (1-10) and Manuel Ortiz (1-6).
Next week, Comanche welcomes Sweetwater (3-3, 1-0), which is coming off a 90-0 thrashing of San Angelo TLCA (0-6, 0-1).

San Saba 38, Johnson City 15
JOHNSON CITY – The San Saba Armadillos kicked off District 14-A Division I action Friday night with a 38-15 road victory over the Johnson City Eagles.
San Saba (4-2, 1-0) compiled 434 yards of total offense, with 341 coming on the ground, against the Johnson City (2-4, 0-1) defense.
Quarterback Luke Tharp rushed for 241 yards and four touchdowns and also connected on 8 of 11 passes for 93 yards. Jason Everett tacked on 44 yards on the ground and scored once and Graden Lebow rushed for 43 yards.
Levi Glover caught a team-high four passes for 22 yards, Preston Gray grabbed a pair of receptions for 31 yards and Skylar Romero caught a 38-yard pass.
Defensively, Kolton Pierce recovered two fumbles and Tharp intercepted a pass. Juan Patino led the Armadillos with 13 tackles and three for loss, while Lebow and Everett both finished with six tackles apiece and one sack.
Next week, San Saba is on the road again at Thorndale (4-2, 0-1), which is coming off a 58-14 loss to No. 9 Mason (5-1, 1-0).

Goldthwaite 69, Frost 28
GOLDTHWAITE – The Goldthwaite Eagles remained flawless against District 10-2A Division II competition Friday night with a 69-28 home victory over the Frost Polar Bears.
Goldthwaite (4-2, 3-0) racked up a staggering 671 yards of total offense, with 642 of those yards coming on the ground against the Frost (3-3, 1-2) defense. Meanwhile, the Eagles gave up 395 yards – 290 through the air and 105 on the ground – and forced two turnovers.
Landry Sanderson rushed for 300 yards and three touchdowns on just 18 carries, Luke Sanderson contributed 185 yards and three scores on 12 totes, Gary Wiedebusch chipped in 83 yards and a touchdown, and Aidyn Lee compiled 77 yards on the ground with a score.
Lee also completed 6 of 14 passes for 29 yards, with Luke Sanderson grabbing four receptions for 28 yards.
Next week, Goldthwaite travels to Bremond (4-2, 3-0), which is coming off a 70-7 victory Meridian (1-5, 1-2), in a battle of two of the three undefeated teams in 10-2A Division II action.

Priddy 58, Cranfills Gap 28
PRIDDY – The Priddy Pirates opened the District 14-A Division II portion of their schedule with their first victory of the season, 58-28 over Cranfills Gap, Friday night.
Catfish Baird rushed for 130 yards and three touchdowns and caught a 31-yard scoring toss for Priddy (1-5, 1-0). Meanwhile, Wyatt Frazier rushed for 80 yards and two more Pirate scores.
Defensively, Austin Warmack recovered two fumbles and returned one 33 yards for a touchdown against Cranfills Gap (0-7, 0-1), while also tallying 5.5 tackles. Baird led the team with 6.5 tackles with a 45-yard pick six interception. Frazier added 5.5 tackles as well, while Levi Breum tallied 4.5 tackles, Ryan Arnett collected four, and Brazos Miller finished with three tackles.
Next week, Priddy has its district bye and returns to action Oct. 25 at Class A Division II No. 3 Oglesby (5-2, 1-0), which blanked Mullin (2-5, 0-1) by a 42-0 count Friday.

Hamilton 21, Coleman 14
HAMILTON – The Coleman Bluecats put forth their best showing of the season, but were unable to knock the No. 10 Hamilton Bulldogs from the ranks of the unbeaten in a 21-14 loss Friday night that opened District 5-2A Division I competition.
Coleman (0-6, 0-1), still in search of its first victory, finished with 265 yards of total offense – 152 rushing and 113 passing – with a pair of turnovers. The Bluecat defense gave up 317 yards to Hamilton (6-0, 1-0), with 222 coming on the ground,
but did force a turnover – a 30-yard fumble return for a touchdown by Brody Bland.
Blaine Bouldin scored the offensive touchdown for Coleman as he finished with 71 yards on the ground and the 7-yard scoring sprint. Brayden Torres passed for 113 yards and rushed for 42, while Anthony Espitia rushed for 41 yards and caught three passes for 43 yards. Braylon Stewart led all Bluecat receivers with four grabs for 65 yards.
Hamilton scored on a 6-yard run by Halston Hale, a 20-yard pass from Jaxon Edwards to Pierce Summers, and a 3-yard carry by Garrett Guinn.
Brooks Clippinger and Paul Salas led Coleman with 12 tackles apiece followed by 11 from Torres, and nine each from Espitia and Lane Bowers.
Next week, the Bluecats host De Leon (3-3, 1-0), which is coming off a 56-0 victory against Hico (4-2, 0-1).

Roscoe 46, Cross Plains 7
ROSCOE – The Cross Plains Buffaloes were foiled by the District 7-2A Division II rival Roscoe Plowboys, 46-7, in the league opener for both teams Friday night.
Cross Plains (3-3, 0-1) finished with 261 yards of total offense, including 204 passing, with one turnover, while Roscoe (2-3, 1-0) manufactured 478 yards – 255 on the ground and 223 through the air – without a turnover.
Kade Purvis passed for 162 yards with a touchdown and an interception, as Tyler Mackey grabbed six receptions for 60 yards and scored once and also rushed for a team-high 39 yards for Cross Plains. Landry Savell added six grabs for 47 yards and Colter Wedeking finished with two receptions covering 62 yards.
Defensively for the Buffaloes, Colt Sanderson recorded nine tackles with three for loss, followed by Cullin Ellis with seven, and Jessey Bradford with six tackles.
Next week, Cross Plains hosts Miles (4-2, 0-1), which is coming off a 47-15 loss to No. 5 Albany (4-2, 1-0).

Woodson 62, Santa Anna 14
SANTA ANNA – In their final outing prior to the start of district action, the Santa Anna Mountaineers were handed a 62-14 loss by the Woodson Cowboys Friday night.
Santa Anna (3-4) finished with 180 total yards – 125 on the ground and 55 through the air – against the Woodson (4-3) defense. Wyatt Strickland rushed for 97 yards with a 60-yard scoring sprint and passed for 55 yards with a 47-yard scoring strike to Jordan Diggs.
Strickland also led Santa Anna with six tackles followed by four each from Brock Brown, Jeremiah Davila and Elijah Herrod.
The Mountaineers are off next week before opening District 14-A Division I action at Class A Division I No. 4 May (7-0), which is coming off a 48-0 triumph over Moran (1-6).

Oglesby 42, Mullin 0
OGLESBY – The Class A Division II No. 3 Oglesby Tigers shutout the Mullin Bulldogs, 42-0, to open District 14 action Friday.
Oglesby improved to 5-2 overall and 1-0 in district while Mullin is now 2-5 for the year and 0-1 in league play.
Next week, Mullin hosts Evant (1-5, 0-0), which fell to Mount Calm (4-3) by a 77-42 count in non-district action Friday night.

The Panther Creek Panthers forfeited their District 15-A Division II opener to the Lohn Eagles Friday.
Panther Creek (0-5, 0-1) is scheduled to host Brookesmith (3-3, 0-1), which is coming off a 59-12 loss to No. 2 Richland Springs (6-0, 1-0), next week.
