STEPHENVILLE – The Brownwood High tennis team concluded District 7-4A action with a third straight setback Thursday, falling at Stephenville by a 16-3 count.
“Stephenville had a lot of returners on this team, and their experience paid off against our younger squad,” said Brownwood tennis head coach Dalton Hutchins. “Best of luck to them in the playoffs, but we have to regroup quick.”
The Lions and Lady Lions (4-7, 1-3) will head into the bi-district round of the playoffs as the league’s fourth seed. Brownwood will face District 8 champion Peaster at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mineral Wells.
Against Stephenville, victories were claimed by the No. 1 girls tandem of Ashlyn Bundick and Zoe Smith in straight sets over Reeves and Taylor, the No. 2 boys doubles team of Wesley Goodrich and Eric Smith in three sets over Sims and Williams, the No. 6 boys singles player Andre Martinez in two sets over Watson.
