Freshman Lions 35, China Spring 0
The Brownwood Freshman Lions improved to 5-0 on the season with a 35-0 victory over the China Spring Cougars Thursday at Gordon Wood Stadium.
The Freshman Lions have now outscored their opponents 193-18 this season.
Brownwood jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter as Aiden Jimenez intercepted a China Spring pass, which set up a 10-yard scoring toss from Caden Wilson to Jimenez, who also converted the extra point.
The lead grew to 14-0 in the second quarter thanks to a 77-yard scamper by Wilson and Jimenez’s extra point.
The Lions pushed their advantage to 21-0 in the third period as Wilson connected with Jimenez on a 50-yard touchdown pass. Jimenez also booted the PAT.
Brownwood scored twice more in the fourth quarter on a 99-yard run by Garrett Wilkerson and a 15-yard touchdown pass from Wilson to Jimenez, who converted kicks after both scores.
Defensively, Boudy Humphries and Brody Bolton also intercepted passes, while other standouts included Hutton Malone (8 tackles, 2 TFL), Hudson Deen (6 tackles), Trent Buffington (5 tackles, 1 sack), Hudson Fry (5 tackles), and Christian Gray (4 tackles for loss).

JV Lions 20, China Spring 13
The Brownwood JV Lions improved to 4-0-1 on the season with a 20-13 home victory over China Spring Thursday at Gordon Wood Stadium.
Freshman quarterback Riggs Gray threw a 55-yard touchdown pass to Conner Cornelius, who also scored a rushing touchdown and added a two-point conversion.
The Lions defense came up with three stops deep on their end of the field, including a 96-yard interception return by Durham Brown for a Brownwood touchdown.
The JV Lions will be back at Gordon Wood Stadium next Thursday against the Erath County JV at 6:30 p.m.

Jim Ned 22, Combined Team 6
TUSCOLA – The Brownwood Lions Subvarsity Combined Team came up short in their battle with Jim Ned, 22-6, Thursday night.
Jacob Green scored a rushing touchdown for the Combined Team (1-4) and Hayden Christiansen also ran the ball well.
Defensively, Daniel Bates caused a fumble that Brayden Middleton recovered. Other standouts included Andrew Roberts, Brayden Tlahuel-Torres, Santos Chavez and Eli Waldrop.
